Zebra-Caravan Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2009 and 31-Dec-2010 Please note: If you do not book in the local currency of the country where your rental takes place the payment due dates will change and
your main vehicle rental charges will be payable in full upon confirmation of your booking.
This is to lock in the currency rate of the day you booked on and avoid further currency fluctuations. Some charges like taxes,
compulsory fees, extra items may still be payable upon pick up of your vehicle in their local currency.
(Please note, If you book in the local currency of the country where your rental takes place the standard payment terms described under the heading Payment Terms will apply.)
Terms of payment
A non refundable booking deposit is required to secure your motorhome booking. The exact amount is detailed in the breakdown of pricing.
A second stage payment of 20% of the total rental price or at least 160 Euro is taken shortly after booking confirmation as a separate transaction.
The remainder (balance) is payable 4 weeks before the rental commences – it has to be transferred to the stated account. With leases/contracts which are made at short notice the total rent has to be paid immediately.
Reservations are only obligatory after a written confirmation of Zebra.
General Terms & Conditions
The Hirer is obligated to treat the rental vehicle carefully. Unusual demand on the vehicle, which goes beyond the general standard traffic use of the vehicle, is not permitted. The Hirer commits to reading the manual of the rental vehicle and to use it accordingly, also of the built in devices on the interior of the vehicle. Without written permission from the Supplier the Hirer is not allowed to allow the vehicle to be operated by thirds person for use. The vehicle may only be driven by the Hirer, which is mentioned in the lease/contract (the indicated driver). The minimum age of 21 years and the possession of a valid driving licence is required. All drivers are under supervision of the Hirer. The Hirer is considered to be the owner of the vehicle during the rental period.
Pick up and Drop off
Pick up on the first rental day is between 02:00 pm – 05:00 pm
Drop off on the last rental day is between 09:00 am – 12:00 am
Rental Price
included in price
- 19% VAT
- Maintenance and wear and tear repairs, liability insurance with unlimited covering, insurance against all risks (Full Cover insurance) with 1000 Euro self participation and Part Cover Insurance with 500 Euro self participation in each case of accident. The self participation can be reduced by effecting a policy down to 250 Euro.
Base Rate
The base rate contains of the preparation of the vehicle, the cleaning after drop off, supply of propane gas, drinking water and toilet filling, CEE- adapter cable and travel insurance certificate of protection (for camper vans only)
It is possible to park your car – under non- liability- on our premises. The basis price is valid per rental.
Deposit
Upon vehicle collection, a security deposit of 500 Euro is required. The security deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned in a satisfactory condition.
Travel to Western Europe
The Hirer is allowed to travel with the campervan abroad to Western Europe. The Hirer has to pay and bear any costs for any resulting foreign papers required to do this, also to organise all paperwork directly as well.
Type of vehicle booked
The Hirer is entitled to a vehicle of the booked size, however this is restricted only to the class booked. The Supplier however strives to make the visited class available.
Return of Hire
After completion of the rental period the Hirer is obligated to return the vehicle, if nothing else is agreed on, at the depot of the Supplier in the same condition in which it was given to them. Apart from normal wear and tear, (fuel to be filled up, waste water and holding tank disposed of) The Hirer is also responsible for a punctual return of the vehicle as stipulated in the contractual conditions, intact and ready for use, (even if it is another's fault). A bond does not exist in case of higher authority in the sense of these conditions.
The Hirer is also liable, as far as third parties are liable, to pay any damages. The claim for damages to the third parties are to be separated with normal fulfillment of payment of damage obligations.
Cleaning
The vehicle will be delivered in clean condition and is expected to be returned cleaned inside. The hirer is responsible for cleaning the vehicle interior including toilet. Zebra takes over the exterior. For non-or defective cleaning We charge 60 Euro.
Late Return
The Hirer is responsible for the punctual return of the vehicle at the agreed return time, ready for use and in the stipulated conditions above. Exceeding the rental time will result in a late fee to apply – the agreed rent has to be paid accordingly up until the actual return of the vehicle, at the latest up to the announcement of the loss or the destruction of the vehicle. Further claims for damages of the Supplier remain, on the other hand the Hirer is entitled to request proof that any damage claim is not commenced or, if commenced it is substantially lower. A breakdown of the vehicle in the sense of the lease regulations is also taken and supplied, if a so called economic total loss in the sense of the motor vehicle liability is present.
Damages
For any damage or losses of the rented vehicle, the Hirer is responsible/liable for damages and the breakdown of this, as long as proof is given, that the Hirer neither destroyed it deliberately or negligently nor forgot or failed to apply the necessary theft protection. In all other respects the regulations of this agreement are valid accordingly, in particular also for the insurance excess (in the case when the insurance is to be paid) and for the bond, for loss of earnings during the time where spare parts have to be purchased. A bond of the Supplier, also for own staff exists only in circumstances of deliberate act and rough negligence. This is valid as well if the Hirer cannot be provided with the agreed vehicle type or an equivalent spare vehicle. The Supplier is only liable up to the maximum amount of the rent already paid.
The Hirer commits himself/herself:
a) to consider all relevant regulations and technical rules and to examine the tyres during the rental period, to examine oil and cooling water level etc. and to eliminate troubles by an expert. The maintenance period is to be kept by the Supplier and the Supplier is liable for all damage developing from the neglect of these regulations.
b) with collisions, accidents etc. the police must be notified, a witness, licence plates numbers, all names and address of the vehicles/owners/drivers involved as well as a sketch-map and an accident report. This is also valid for minor damage. Opposing requirements may not be recognized.
c) to consider the existing traffic regulations in different countries - particularly the permitted maximum speed limit and the prescribed total weight of the vehicle. During trips abroad, as far as these are permissible, the Hirer has to inform himself/herself about the valid traffic regulations in these countries.
The Hirer bears the cost of the current maintenance of the rented vehicle. The costs of any necessary repairs are distributed regarding number 10. To carry out those repairs, following is valid: For the execution of repairs over 50 euros the Hirer needs the permission of the Supplier. The Supplier will refund the repair costs to the Hirer, if the Hirer is able to present correct receipts. The removal of larger damages takes place at one of the Supplier determined places. Exceptions require the written agreement of the Supplier. Transfer costs will be debited to the Hirer, if he/she has to pay the repair costs.
Insurance
For the covering of the excess with part and/or full cover insurance against all risks the Hirer deposits a bond of 500.00 euros. For damages that are not covered by the insurance against all risks (Full cover insurance)and/or part (Part cover insurance) the Hirer is fully liable. Excess for the Hirer amounts up to 1000,00 Euros with a full cover insurance against all risks and with Part cover damages 500,00 Euros for each case of damage. As far as the damage is covered by the insurance, that the Hirer has paid for, the Hirer is not liable, as far as that there is not such a case existing, in which the insurer can take recourse with the Hirer.
Full cover insurance is for all damages with a causer and self damages , part cover insurance for car theft , damages on windscreen and glass
Cancellation
If the Hirer withdraws from the contract, the initial deposit is non refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges apply:
In each case there will be a 50, 00 \ cancellation fee per contract as well as additionally:
up to 63 days before the beginning of the rental period - 20% of the total balance due.
up to 23 days before the beginning of the rental period - 50% of the total balance due
less than 22 days - 80% from the total balance due.
If the vehicle can be re-rented to another Hirer then the difference if only parially rented will apply.
No Show
A No Show or “no start” of the contract will also be considered as cancellation. The Hirer has to prove that any damage did not occur or is that the damages to the supplier should be substantially lower.
Travel Insurance
Against the costs due to travel cancellation the Hirer is advised to buy a full cancellation of travel policy. This can be purchased with the Supplier. Please ask for details on arrival.
Travel Cancellation Insurance Policy
We offer a travel cancellation insurance and a holiday protection package to purchase. The holiday protection package includes a travel cancellation insurance, curtailment Insurance (explanation: in case you have to stop your holiday because somethings happened, a bond insurance (the bond will be reduced to 250, - €), a rent and rental value insurance and an insurance for your luggage.
Salvatori clause: Compelling laws remain being untouched and are considered as agreed upon. The whole or partial inefficacy of a part of the present contract or a part of an individual regulation leaves the validity of the contents of the remaining contract untouched.
The Hirer will be required to confirm the receipt of these conditions and their acknowledgment by way of signature in the agreement. This is part of the agreement.

In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
